    (joining Scott Darling – 2015 Chicago Blackhawks). 

    Bussi started his journey with us several summers ago.

    in addition to coaching with us over four summers.

      Three leagues. One draft class. And it still took years before things clicked. Before Brandon Bussi was a Stanley Cup champion goaltender, his path was anything but smooth. Drafted by the USHL, Bloomington, and the NAHL all in the same stretch, he committed to St. Lawrence and hit a wall. Being away from home was hard. Consistency wasn't there yet. Two more years bounced between teams before he landed in the NCDC, still searching for his game heading into his age-out year.       Brian Daccord, the founder and president of Stop It Goaltending, set his alarm for 4:30 a.m. on Sunday while on vacation overseas to watch Bussi in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Vegas Golden Knights. Daccord has worked with and known Bussi for years and wasn't about to miss his first chance to win the Stanley Cup. "He fought pucks off. But when he goes to push off the post, his pad slips off the iron and his exit breaks down completely. From there, he slightly lost composure. Hands not controlled. Weight leaning the wrong way.       Five games. That's all he got. It was enough. An injury and some illness at the NHL level opened a door for Brandon Bussi last season, and he walked through it with Providence. What he found waiting for him wasn't what he expected. The pace was different. The traffic in front of the net was different. The competition was older, stronger, and far less forgiving. He didn't waste the opportunity. Those five games became the blueprint for his entire offseason, and that work followed him all the way to a Stanley Cup run with the Hurricanes.
