About Stop It

What is Stop It Goaltending?+

Stop It Goaltending (SIG) is a goalie-only training company founded in 1999 by Brian Daccord, Director of Goaltending Scouting & Development for the Detroit Red Wings. We run year-round goaltending development centers across Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey and Vermont.

Where are Stop It Goaltending locations?+

We train at nine rinks: Foxboro, Lovell, Marlboro, Middleton, Springfield and Woburn in Massachusetts, plus Simsbury, CT, Elmwood Park, NJ and Burlington, VT. Our home base is The PAD at 11 Cabot Rd., Woburn, MA.

Has Stop It trained NHL goalies?+

Yes. SIG alumni have played in the NHL, AHL, ECHL, Europe and NCAA hockey including Stanley Cup winners. See the full list on our Alumni page.

Training & programs

What ages and levels do you train?+

Programs run from youth goalies through 12U–19U, junior, college and pro. Weekly classes are grouped by age and level so every goalie trains with peers.

How do weekly group sessions work?+

The season is split into eight-to-nine-week sessions. Goalies skate with the same coach every week, and programs like Pro Goalie Development and DNHL include two 80-minute sessions a week with on-ice video feedback.

Do you offer private 1-on-1 goalie lessons?+

Yes. Private lessons are one-on-one ice time focused on the specific habits holding a goalie back, booked directly with your coach.

What summer goalie camps do you offer?+

Summer includes high-volume skill blocks, the Be A Pro 4-week intensive (application required), PAD Pass off-ice training and the Goalie Career Guidance (GCG) week.

Do you offer goalie video analysis?+

Yes — $125 per game report, either as a 60-minute live Google Meet review or a recorded Loom telestration video. Video should be clipped down to goalie action.

What should my goalie bring to the first session?+

Full gear and a water bottle. Arrive 30 minutes early for the first class of the session; coaches meet parents after week one to set goals.

Registration & payment

How do I register?+

Pick your rink in the Register section of the home page — each tile opens online registration for that location.

How can I pay?+

Credit card or ACH bank withdrawal only; we don't accept cash or checks. Full payment is due before a program starts. Card payments carry a 2.9% convenience fee (waived for ACH) and a 0.9% administrative fee.

Can I get a refund or make up a missed session?+

Group-lesson make-ups may be arranged within the same week with 24 hours' notice, at the Director's discretion. Illness or injury credits are issued with a doctor's note. Full details are in the Policies section below.

What happens if a session is cancelled for weather?+

Closures are posted on our website and social media. We schedule a make-up for any session missed due to an unplanned closure, or provide a credit or partial refund.

The Bridge, advising & SIG U

What is The Bridge Program?+

A full school year of academics and goaltending training held at Stop It Goaltending for 7th–10th graders. Applications are open for 2027-2028.

Apply for The Bridge
Do you help goalies with college and junior placement?+

Yes. Our Advising and Mentorship program covers expectations, development plans and placement strategy, with bi-weekly calls.

What is SIG U?+

SIG U is our subscription app with pro-level goalie training video, coaching from SIG staff and the Ask Coach & U hotline. Subscriptions can be cancelled anytime and end with the current term.

Policies

Payment policyPayment+
  • Full payment is due prior to the start of any program or session.
  • Summer session payments must be made 3 weeks prior to the start of the summer session, or at the time of registration.
  • For single sessions (1-on-1s, walk-ons, etc.), a goalie will not be permitted to skate if full payment is not made in advance.
  • For multi-session programming, a goalie with a balance due will be issued a warning but may skate in Week 1. If full payment is not received prior to Week 2, the goalie will not be permitted to skate, any payments or deposits made will be forfeited, and the registration will be canceled. Re-registration requires payment in full, and a spot is not guaranteed.
  • Goalies with past due balances greater than 60 days will have their registration privileges suspended.
  • Payment is by credit card or ACH bank withdrawal only — we do not accept cash or checks. A credit card or ACH information must be stored at the time of registration, and it is the customer's responsibility to keep it current. By providing payment information you authorize Stop It Goaltending, LLC to charge any outstanding balance due under a payment plan or any current or past due balance.
  • All payments are subject to a Customer Convenience/Transaction Fee (2.9%) and an Administrative Fee (0.9%). The convenience fee is waived for ACH bank withdrawal.
Cancellation, injury & refund policyGroup lessons+
  • Cancellation at least one week prior to the 1st Monday of a session: the deposit is forfeited, but any additional payment made will be refunded.
  • Cancellation less than one week prior to the 1st Monday of a session, or after the start of a session, is not eligible for an account credit or refund.
  • In the case of illness or injury, account credits will be issued regardless of timing — a doctor's note is required, and notice must be provided prior to the end of the training session.
  • Prorating of group lessons is not permitted.
  • Walk-ons on a per-session basis are permitted following Week 1 of any session. The per-session walk-on rate is higher than the full-program package rate.
Cancellation, injury & refund policy1-on-1 training+
  • Payments for 1-on-1 lessons are non-refundable.
  • Cancellation more than 24 hours in advance is eligible for an account credit at the discretion of the training center Director.
  • Cancellation within 24 hours of the lesson is not eligible for an account credit.
  • In the case of illness or injury, account credits will be issued regardless of timing — a doctor's note is required, and notice must be provided prior to the end of the training session.
Cancellation, injury & refund policySummer training+
  • More than 90 days prior to the start of a session: eligible for a full refund.
  • Between 30 and 90 days prior: the deposit is forfeited, but any additional payment made will be refunded.
  • More than 2 weeks but less than 30 days prior: an account credit for any payments made, but no refund.
  • Less than 2 weeks prior, or after the start of a session: all payments are forfeited with no refund or account credit.
  • In the case of illness or injury, account credits will be issued regardless of timing — a doctor's note is required, and notice must be provided prior to the end of the training session.
  • Prorating of summer training is not permitted. Walk-ons are permitted following Week 1 of any session at the higher per-session rate.
Cancellation, injury & refund policySIG Game Day & Stop It Goaltending U apps+
  • Both apps are subscription-based. A purchase covers the term/billing cycle of the subscription (usually 1 month or 1 year, or any other term defined for promotional reasons at checkout).
  • Subscriptions automatically renew at the price and term indicated during purchase.
  • Cancellations may be made at any time and take effect at the end of the current term. Access and all purchased features continue through the end of the paid term.
  • There are no refunds, full or prorated, once a renewal term begins and the renewal charge is completed.
Make-up policyMissed sessions+
  • Group lessons: make-ups may be permitted the same week of a missed lesson at another available day and time, at the discretion of the training center Director. We always do our best, but can't guarantee a spot during busy seasons. Make-ups are only honored with at least 24 hours' notice, must be completed within the same 8-week session (credits do not carry to future sessions), and should be requested by emailing your Director on the Sunday of the week you'd like to make up.
  • 1-on-1 lessons: make-ups may be provided at the discretion of the training center Director but are not guaranteed. 24-hour notice is required.
  • Summer training: there are no make-ups for summer programming; exceptions may be made by the Development Center Director. 24-hour notice is required.
Inclement weather policyWeather closures+
  • We make every effort to stay open even in difficult New England weather, but for the safety of our customers and staff we are sometimes forced to close.
  • Closures are posted on our website and on social media — follow us on X, Instagram and Facebook for the timeliest notices.
  • We will schedule a make-up for any session missed due to an unplanned closure. If a make-up isn't possible, we will provide an account credit, a partial refund, or work with you to resolve the situation.
