“Wearing the proper size equipment is not only essential for safety, it also allows a goalie to play at his or her absolute best,” says Brian Daccord, Owner and Director at Stop It Goaltending. “The way pads are built these days, it just does not make sense to buy a new set every year.”
In recent years, fewer and fewer hockey stores are accepting used gear trade-ins, leaving the owner responsible to find the equipment a new home. The SIG equipment consignment center will provide sellers the chance to turn their used gear into cash, new gear, or lessons. Potential buyers will also benefit from being properly fitted by an equipment expert, and the chance to demo gear on real ice.
Stop It Goaltending has expanded its reach in the hockey world by opening a goalie equipment consignment center at our Foxboro, MA facility. The objective of the equipment outlet is to give goalies, and their parents, a more affordable way to be properly fitted for the position.

How to buy and sell your equipment at Stop It Goaltending
The goal for Stop It Goaltending is to provide parents and goalies an efficient and effective way to sell their unused equipment. We all know this equipment still has plenty of saves left in it, we just don't know where/how to find it a new home. SIG aims at relieving this issue, all the while ensuring goalies of all ages and sizes are properly fitted for gear that suits their playing style. Here is how the consignment process works:
Step 1: Selling
1. The gear owner brings equipment to one of our locations.
2. One of our equipment experts can aid gear owner in determining a selling price based on age and condition of the equipment, or the seller can name his or her own price.
3. After the paperwork is completed, the owner decides on reimbursement options:
o Gear for Cash - 60% of selling price
o Gear for Gear - 70% of selling price
o Gear for Lessons - 80% of selling price
4. The Item(s) is professionally cleaned by Fresh Sports Gear.
5. The item(s) is displayed in our Foxboro Consignment Store as well as our website.
Step 2: Buying
1. Browsing our website or store, a customer finds potential gear.
2. The customer may visit the store during posted open hours or arrange an appointment with Jim McNiff where the goalie can be fitted.
3. If the customer decides to purchase the equipment:a receipt is generated, payment made, and the gear is taken to its new home.
4. The original gear owner receives reimbursement and the process is completed.
Customers looking for personal service, advice, and fitting are encouraged to first call or email Jim McNiff to schedule an appointment at no charge: (800) 801-1968 or (508) 400-0711 or jim@stopitgoaltending.com

CONSIGNMENT: What is it?
Consignment is the process involving a person (consignee) placing his or her thing in the hand of another (consignor), but retaining ownership until the goods are sold or transferred. At the point of sale, the consignor and consignee distribute payment based upon a previously agreed upon method, whether that be flat rate fee or percentage of final sale amount.
Features of consignment are:
1. The relation between the two parties is that of consignor and consignee and not that of buyer and seller.
2. The consignor is entitled to receive all the expenses in connection with consignment, plus any additional fee or percentage of final sale amount.
3. The consignee is not responsible for damage of goods during transport or any other procedure.
